A smart contract is a self-executing contract with the terms of the agreement written into lines of code. The code and the agreements contained therein exist across a distributed, decentralized blockchain network. Taking Ethereum network as an example, issuing ERC20 Tokens on Ethereum network is essentially creating the smart contract of a Token. The code of the smart contract determines all information of the Token in this address.

Since the smart contract doesn’t have a private key, once transferred Tokens to the contract address, they may never be returned. In addition, Some contracts have reserved codes that can transfer Tokens, and some people believe that this is a hidden danger left by anonymous project parties.

Therefore, when you transfer or withdraw a token from an exchange platform, do not transfer to the contract address of the token.
